Sugg Residence

Project Background

Hey, friends! I wanted to share pics and details from my most recent and biggest (3,600 SF and 17 spaces/rooms in one home) project to date. My clients were building a new home in the West Chester Township area and were in search of an interior designer to make this new house a home. Insert ME!

Since I tackled multiple spaces throughout the home I will share before and after photos for each space for maximum impact. Alright, without further ado

Entryway

I wanted my clients to experience what their guests would experience when entering their homes from the front door. Creating the enveloping sense of arrival with beautiful new light fixtures, leaning a bit more natural and textured with the furniture selections, etc. No entry space is complete without a chair to sit in and a mirror to look in, am I right?

Here are the BEFORE photos of the Entryway:

…and AFTER:

My client wanted a home office away from her office where she sees her clients. The only thing she said was that she wanted a sit/stand desk and wanted the space to exude BLACK GIRL MAGIC! I believe I understood the assignment.

Powder Room

The Powder Room is off of the entryway near the home office. I wanted to evoke a dramatic, art deco-ish feel in there, so of course I swapped out all of the fixtures (mirror, towel holder, toilet paper holder, light fixture, faucet, switch plates, etc.), wallpapered the space with a dope black and white tech-like wallpaper and painted the ceiling black!

Dining Room

Moving on to the Dining Room… I wanted the space to feel larger than it actually looked (although it was a nice size) by drawing the eye in, maximizing the height by taking the window treatments ALL THE WAY UP (designer trick, you’re welcome lol)

Here is where we started BEFORE:

…and now, the AFTER:

Family Room

The Family Room was probably the star of the show! I remember my client’s son, Manu, saying “my mom LOVES her pictures” so I just knew I had to create an epic gallery wall. Not only was it epic, but it allows for more photos to be added, existing photos to be relocated, etc. as the family grows and takes more photographs! My client wanted blues, oranges, and other bright colors in this space. Let’s see what this space looked like before.

Manu’s Entertainment Area

Manu, my client’s son, has his own entertainment area, just for him! Of course he can welcome an occasional sister, mom or dad to come down to hang out. This is possible now due to his multiple seating options in his space. This space will be a forever mood with the various lighting elements (yaaay, for dimmable fixtures), including his LED lights on his TV stand. His parent’s surprised him with a new gaming computer and Manu was beyond thrilled about it. His reaction, which you can see in the reveal video at the end of this post, was epic (we had to remind him to breathe LOL). I hand-painted a custom mural in his space to elevate it just a touch! So, let’s take a look at what this space looked like before.

B&S Play Room

The twins, Brooklyn and Skylar AKA my “twinterns” also had their own dedicated area to play and hang out. They needed better storage for their many toys, and this Ikea unit definitely did the trick. I wanted to create a space for them to lounge, create, or simply just be, and I believe this space envelopes all of that.

…and the AFTER:

Window Nook

Headed on our way upstairs from the basement play areas, making our way to the 2nd floor, there is a window nook that my client wanted to enjoy sitting, reading, looking outside, etc. I wanted to make this space cozy for her, so I made a custom bench cushion for the area and also added sconce lighting on either side of the window. Nothing makes a nook cozier than pillows, so I added some jewel tone pillows to further cozy up the space.

Brooklyn & Sky’s Bedroom

The girl’s bedroom was a treat! They got a new Full over Full bunkbed, because HELLO… kids grow! Their favorite colors are Pink and Purple, so I sprinkled those colors throughout the space. I was starting with a blank slate in there, and there was no existing furniture of course with the move and upcoming design. Let’s take a look…

Manu’s Bedroom

In Manu’s bedroom, we had an existing bed and dresser to work with, and this room needed just a wee bit more. I added a desk for a comfortable homework spot, and gave him some awesome globe lights in there, too. Armed with light-filtering curtains, he’ll be ready to relax. Let’s take a look at his space.

Jay Cave

Every man needs a space to call his own besides the bathroom! Ha! This Jay Cave is the epitome of a man cave, fit for a Js lover and collector, podcast producer, Marvel fan, candy connoisseur, video game maven, and so much more. Let’s get into this Jay Cave, shall we?

Main Bedroom

Friends! This is one of my favorite rooms I designed. I saved it for the last reveal (right before the client reveal video down below, that is)… You’re welcome! lol. My clients NEEDED a main bedroom suite that looked AND felt like a main bedroom suite! I’m not going to say much else, I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

Other Spaces

There were a few other spaces that I touched in some way, but weren’t photographed. I created an Art Area for La Shanda (mom) in the back basement area. This area was ideal especially since it had a door, not to mention she can continue to build out her space a bit more if she pleases. There was a small closet in the hallway off the Garage and Laundry Room, that I converted to a real mud room, despite what the floor plans said (shout out to Marty, my contractor at A+ Carpentry) and lastly the laundry room where I snuck in some artwork and a mop and broom keeperkid’s bathroom and Main Bathroom where I added artwork.

Closing Thoughts & Such

There you have it, friends! It was such an honor to work on this project with my clients who are now friends! It goes without saying that this family was more than deserving of the home that was designed for them. I look forward to the memories that they continue to create in their home.
