Collier Cottage Project- Part III: Dining Room

Hey, friends! Welcome back! Now, just a word of “do the right thing” lol I’d advise you to check out Part I and Part II for the reveal of the four other spaces in my client’s home to see some behind the scenes during demo, reno, and client reveal videos of each space.

Dining Room Mood Board

C’mon you guys, the mood board simply speaks for itself. But seriously, let’s talk about it. The main feature is the wallpaper, I mean, look at it! The furniture was the existing furniture from her dining room renovation that I completed in her previous home. The feeling I was looking to evoke in this new dining room was an audible GASP, seriously, I wanted people to gasp in awe at how stunning the space is… this mood board made me feel like that was very achievable.

Dining Room- Demo/During

Outside of the flooring update that was installed with the other areas throughout the home, and removing the old window treatments and light fixture, the demo in here was very minimal.

The Details

Beyond the new wainscoting, this Scott Living wallpaper was giving LIFE, (Johnathan and Drew call me! lol) and I paired it perfectly with the paint color Blustery Sky by Sherwin Williams. Speaking of wallpaper and paint… let me tell you about the pivot I pulled at the last minute. I insisted that the back door, cased openings, AND crown moulding had to be painted the same color blue; that they just couldn’t be white. Let me tell you that whenever I’ve felt a pivot like that in my spirit, I must follow it, and I’m so glad I did. The best part? I was able to paint all those areas prior to the wallpaper being installed with the help of my assistant Brittany. The artwork in the space had to exude feminine energy, including the Sojourner stamp print and the beautiful “Anu” photo print by the talented Obinna Obioma. In terms of greenery, I visualized a dynamic plant presence by way of one wall fiddle leaf fig, which complemented the other colors in the space. All other elements of the space were styled perfectly. See the After photos below.
